Supply, demand, and the next step: the nuclear matchmaking method
In the nuclear sector, a twenty-minute meeting does not close a plant. Sometimes it doesn't even open a negotiation. The cycle is different. The IAEA's milestone approach estimates between 10 and 15 years from when a country considers the option until it can order and build the first plant. In Poland, Westinghouse and Bechtel have been working on site engineering for the AP1000s in Lubiatowo-Kopalino since 2022. The construction permit was requested in March 2026. The first concrete is projected for late 2028. Commercial operation is expected by 2036. INVAP has stated it plainly: even with permission, financing, and framework, the physical work takes six or seven years, and there are components —vessel, steam generators, pumps— with delivery times of three to five years.
That clock does not fit in a fair. A generic matchmaking ignores it. It measures badges, photos, and “leads.” In nuclear, a lead that does not declare what it offers and what it seeks is noise. The one who requests a meeting with a decision-maker without a fit is a cost. The one who expects to sign an EPC in the room leaves frustrated and does not return.
What it is, and what it is not
The B2B Nuclear Matchmaking of the Nuclear Summit & Expo LATAM (March 1 and 2, 2028, Veracruz) is not an open directory nor an intermediary that closes deals. It is a layer of work for each organization to declare its offer and its need, and for, with that input, linkages to be proposed. The decision to meet, continue, or contract is up to the parties. Registering does not imply an alliance, does not reserve a spot on anyone's agenda, and does not anticipate a specific counterpart.
That is not brochure modesty. It is the condition for the system to work. In B2B events, the acceptance rate of a request usually ranges between 40% and 60%. The actual follow-up rate —a second meeting within 30 to 90 days— hovers around 20% to 30% in well-measured programs. Below that, the problem is not the algorithm. It is the empty profile or the promise of more.
The profile is the filter
The registration asks for the minimum required to cross. Without these fields, proposals are not generated:
Activities of the company.
Countries of interest.
What is offered.
What is sought.
Type of contact that is of interest (commercial, collaboration, referral, or exploratory).
Paying the registration does not save a blank form.
The crossing does not require identity. A valve, a nuclear law firm, a stop EPC, and an operator are not the same category and can indeed be the market. The criterion distinguishes direct fit from adjacent link, and separates an immediate business opportunity from an alliance, a referral, or an exploratory contact. Budget is not inferred. Authority is not invented. The position is a proxy; what counts is the declared capacity: decides, influences, refers, or collaborates. A licensing manager may be worth more than a director who buys a stand for image.
Accepting is part of the method
Each proposal requires the yes from both parties. One can decline. The system does not force. That protects the time of the decision-maker and avoids the theater of agendas filled with people who should not be there. Inside, the crossings are ordered by fit, decision-making capacity, and the viability of a next step in 90 days. The highest scoring ones can go to human review. The rest is self-service: it is requested, accepted, or rejected. The formula is not sold as “exact intelligence.” It is a reproducible criterion to avoid depending on the randomness of the hallway.
In the room, the cap matters. Six to eight slots of twenty minutes per person per day, with gaps, is a workday. More than that is a fair. Virtual presentations, if opened, go through announced windows, not through a platform that is always on which becomes a graveyard of profiles. The Summit is the big window. Then there is a short pulse: at two weeks and at ninety days.
What counts as a result
We do not measure success by a signed contract in Veracruz. The cycle does not allow it. We count three continuity milestones, and only if the parties register them:
A non-disclosure agreement (NDA), during or after the meeting.
A second call or technical table with a date.
A site visit —plant, workshop, laboratory—.
That is pipeline, not invoice. In the literature of B2B events, follow-up is the number that the exhibitor cites when deciding whether to return. Here it is the only one that fits. An NDA is not an order. It is the door to discuss specifications that are not sent by open mail. A visit to Laguna Verde, or to a qualification workshop, is worth more than ten business cards.
What the method does not do
It does not promise operators or regulators. In Mexico, CFE and CNSNS are not confirmed on the platform. Until there is a name and date, they are not inventory. Access to a non-existent closed door is not announced. The sellable hook today is another: mandatory profile, acceptance from both parties, protected time, and the allies that are indeed present —academia, radioprotection, legal, technical societies—.
It also does not replace the commercial work of the company. The system proposes. The company qualifies, accepts, and follows up. An event study indicates that more than 70% of fair contacts do not receive sales follow-up. In nuclear, that abandonment is more costly: the right interlocutor appears infrequently and the cycle is long. The platform can remind the next step. It cannot do it instead of the one who sells.
Why register now
2028 seems far away if measured in stands. It is not far if measured in profiles. A digital window before the Summit only works if there is already declared supply and demand. An empty directory does not cross anything. The standard registration is 4,900 Mexican pesos per organization. Completing the profile is the condition, not the payment.
The Nuclear Summit & Expo LATAM will not shorten the ten years of a milestone or the forty months of a vessel. It can do something else, more modest and more useful: ensure that the meeting that should indeed occur happens, with those who declare what they seek, and leave an NDA, a call, or a visit instead of a photo. In a sector where 90% of fair participants do not close anything important —and many go for image—, that is already a method. It is not a commercial miracle. It is the minimum to not waste the time of the decision-maker.
The algorithm is already matching profiles. Declare your offer, define what you are looking for, and secure your place in the matrix. Complete B2B Profile at the Summit
